Signs Your Trees Need Trimming Before the Next Storm
Overgrown limbs rarely look urgent until the wind picks up. A branch resting on the shingles scrubs at them every breezy afternoon, and limbs over the gutters fill them with leaves and seed pods.
The bigger worry is weight. A long limb stretched over the roof or driveway is exactly the piece that snaps first in a thunderstorm. Trimming it means cutting from inside the tree, often above the house, with a running saw. That is where homeowner tree work goes wrong.
What Our Tree Trimming in Raleigh Includes
Tree trimming is selective cutting that takes a tree back from the places it should not reach: the roofline, gutters, chimney, driveway, walkways and property line. The goal is clearance and control. That makes it different from pruning, which we do for tree health, and shaping, which is about appearance. Both are separate services.
At the walkthrough, Carlos goes over every trouble spot with you and how much clearance each one needs. You know exactly which limbs are coming off before the crew arrives.
01
How the Crew Trims
A climber works through the canopy and removes problem limbs back to a healthy side branch or to the trunk. Stubs are not left behind, since they rot or sprout clusters of weak shoots. The crew stays on headsets, so directions to the ground are quiet and clear.
02
Gutters While We Are at the Roofline
When trimming puts the crew on or near the roof anyway, we can clean the gutters on the same visit.
03
Trimming Without Topping
Trimming reduces the limbs that cause problems. It does not mean cutting the whole top off a tree to make it shorter. Topping leaves large wounds, and the tree answers with a thicket of fast, weakly attached shoots that are more likely to break in the next storm than the limbs they replaced. If a tree has simply grown too tall for its spot, we tell you plainly whether careful reduction or removal is the better choice.
04
Cleanup
Cut branches go straight into a chipper as they come down, and larger wood is loaded onto a dump truck. The crew rakes and blows the lawn, beds, driveway and roof edges before the walkthrough. Most tree trimming jobs in Raleigh are finished in 2.5 hours or less, cleanup included. You walk the property with us when we finish, and we point out each spot we cleared. If anything was damaged during the trim, it is repaired before we accept payment. While the climber is up in your trees, they also see things you cannot see from the ground, like dead wood or a cracked fork. We mention those at the walkthrough. There is no pressure to act on it, and the advice is free whether you book more work or not.
Why Raleigh Calls Timberman for Tree Trimming
Cut to Branch Points, Not Stubs
Every limb comes back to a healthy side branch or to the trunk. You get clearance without the ugly stubs that sprout weak regrowth and send you back for another trim sooner.
Limbs Lowered, Never Dropped on the Roof
Branches over the house are tied off and lowered on a rope.
Fully Insured & Licensed
Proof of insurance comes before every job, and our crews are inspected twice a year.
Free Advice, No Upsell
If we spot dead wood or a problem tree while trimming, we tell you. What you do about it is your call, and the advice itself never costs you anything.
A Yard That Looks Untouched
Brush is chipped as it falls and the lawn, beds, driveway and roof edges are raked and blown. The goal is a yard where you cannot tell where the limbs came down.
How Our Tree Trimming Works
A clear plan from the first conversation through the final walkthrough.
Mark the Trouble Spots
At a free walkthrough, Carlos goes tree by tree with you and marks each limb touching the roof, drive or fence.
Written Trimming Estimate
Within 6 to 24 hours, a text or email lists every tree, the clearance you will get, and gutter cleaning if you want it.
Trim and Lower the Limbs
A climber cuts back to branch points, heavy limbs are lowered on ropes, and brush goes into the chipper as the crew works.
Clean Yard, Then Payment
Most trims take 2.5 hours or less. We rake and blow everything, walk it with you, and we do not accept payment until after you have verified our work and you are satisfied.
How Much Does Tree Trimming Cost in Raleigh?
Tree trimming is priced per visit, after a free walkthrough of your trees. The price depends on how many trees need work, how tall they are, how many limbs hang over the house or other structures, whether a climber has to rig and lower wood, and how easily brush can reach the chipper.
Gutter cleaning is quoted as an add-on when you ask for it. Removing a whole tree, or grinding a stump, is a separate quote.
The walkthrough is free, and so is our opinion on any other tree you ask about while we are there.
